“The ethics of knowledge sharing: a feminist examination of intellectual property rights and open-source materials in gender transformative methodologies”
September 2024
Together with other members of the CUSP Collective, we are delighted to publish this article in the journal, Frontiers In Research Metrics and Analytics. This article is one of 5 recently published about Feminist Methodologies in Research on Violence, Displacement, and Power.
It is primarily written for consideration by donors, researchers, International Development Corporations (IDCs), International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOS) and others interested in using or adapting dynamic materials created by others.
In this article we explore both the challenges and opportunities of intellectual property rights and open source materials in the context of our collective work together as innovators and practitioners in the area of violence against women in the global development sector, who aspire to ‘do no harm’ and even to ‘do good’. The article is the product of over a year of rich and nourishing discussions amongst the CUSP Collective, related to our diverse shared experiences and learnings over the years.
The article concludes with our recommendations for future learning, sharing, policy and practice around these issues.
